About Amy
When I was in elementary school, I decided to ape the often unintentionally humorous contents of my mother's magazines. I wrote my first issue of the parody "Weird Woman," complete with advertisements, self-help articles, and advice columns, for what must have been the very small demographic of women considering themselves strange. Not a successful venture by adult terms, but it may just have been the beginnings of my writing career. And it did give my parents a laugh.

Since then I've honed my writing through training and practice, earning degrees from the University of Iowa's English and Journalism programs, and working over 5 years in writing positions at University of Iowa and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Along the way I earned a Master's in Literature from Northwestern.

As an independent writer I've tackled the fascinating, the diverse, and the unique with numerous projects and clients. In addition to the copywriting, business writing, features and medical writing shown on this site, I plug away at my own fiction and non-fiction book projects.
